In order to remove radon from under your basement or crawl space it must first be airtight. We seal any holes, cracks or cold joints in your floor and walls to prevent removing any conditioned air from your home, while also increasing the efficiency of the system.
Along with sealing, we poke small holes in different areas of the basement so we can determine efficiency and reach of the system. There will be at least one location that we believe to be the best spot for the system. We will hook our vacuum up to that hole and test air flow in the others, to insure we have reach throughout the floor.
After diagnostics are complete, we begin installing your system. We determine what size pipe and fan are required for your system to run properly. We then core drill in the floor or sump lid and run the pipe up to the attic where the fan will be located and installed. From the attic, we cover the pipes and fan in duct insulation to prevent freezing and plumb it up through the roof. If attic or garage access is not possible, the alternate route is an outside system.
If you have a sump system in your basement you may need additional steps to help prevent Radon gasses from entering your home. Covers are an inexpensive way to help the system perform its best and prevent gasses from entering.
